Opinions on this bike

I'm not a pro on this matter but in my opinion it could go two ways. You might be greatly happy with the bargain fully ride ready ebike and accept its shortcomings in quality - or just be sorry you didn't spend a bit more on a 'proper' bike. I don't have any experience on one but I'm guessing it's not going to have brilliant motor performance or all that great qc on the bike either.

I was considering getting or building on a cheap bike like this at one time also, except with crank drive and the battery in or underneath the frame. I saw one pre built like that not so long ago and lost the link. It was a couple hundred more expensive than your link though (if anyone finds it, I wouldn't mind looking again)

In my opinion, the weight distribution makes a big difference to the ride feel and having all the weight of the motor/battery at the back will affect the handling negatively. Though on the plus side it is a smallish battery, but it's still high and behind.

I've heard bikes like that have a relatively low weight tolerance so once you have the electrics on it there's not much play left for rider weight or luggage of any kind. It's bound to put extra stress on the frame, motor and battery :)

Last words then, those type frames can be picked up for around 110 I think shipped. As for the electrics I don't know exactly what's on there or how much it'd cost. But I can assume it's pretty low level and a bbs crank motor and 15ah battery would be about 645. So if you were willing to build one the cost to you would be similar to the average for a bike like this except with better gear on it. It's not neccesarily something you want the hassle of though I understand.

It's a cheap price though and may do you fine for all I know, and if you decide to get one I'd like to hear what you think about it :)

My opinion is I would walk away. Look at the spelling in the advert ***WE ONLY GOT WHITE AND BLACK COLOUR AVAILABLE, please message us for a colour choose, or will random get one......doesn't fill me with confidence when they can't read or write english very well are they shipping it in direct from China? Do they have any experience with E-bikes?

Then after You eventually get it if there is an issue are they professional enough to help you? Will they honour the warrenty? Is there actually any warrenty at all? Who are the company WHOSAVE? How long have they been trading in the UK? Do they have a good reputation? Etc etc.

bargains are are not bargins if you waste your money. Go to a E-bike shop and see what they have take a few for a ride or if buying off line is what you want then buy it from a reputable recognised company.

It could be OK. When I started, I bought a very cheap bike, whch lasted very well. My neighbour did as well, but his bike suffered one minor problem, which was the bottom bracket bearings. They were replaced with a cartridge set and have been fine ever since.

If you're handy with the spanners, it could be a good buy, but if you don't know one end of a bike from the other and need dealer support, there's cheap fully supported bikes from E-bikesdirect and Woosh.

The folding mechanism is only OK for occasional folding. Don't think that you'll be able to take it on the train or bus.

Thanks for your responses guys. I think perhaps I should buy a Woosh bike instead of this one. This bike looks cheap and is probably of poorer quality, and I'm pretty sure it was made in China.

I'm interested in the "Krieger" bike from Woosh: http://www.wooshbikes.co.uk/?krieger. I want to ride with my 4-year old son in a child seat, and together we weigh 18 stone. Therefore, we need a bike that can manage a lot of weight. What are your opinions on the Krieger. It is a crank drive bike rather than hub drive. Am I correct in saying that this means it has very good hill climbing ability?

For the budget you are looking at what ever bike you buy is going to be made in China. Woosh are a reputable company and I hear very few complaints. But the bike will still be made in China. Most things are when was the last time you bought a home appliance that wasn't made in China?

It's not the bike you need to worry about its the people who are selling it to you. If the company is willing to invest hundreds of thousands like woosh kudos, juicy, and the other guys that advertise on this site( and indeed most are members of this site ) then they will stand by their product and by their customers. As for hill climbing the woosh big bear is well respected for it but my preference is kudos simply because the bikes look nicer to me but that's only my opinion.

As for crank or hub there is an argument for and against for both. Some will say crank some say hub personally I would say try them yourself if you can and see what feels right and what does the job for you. Just because one prefers hub over crank doesn't mean it's the right set up for you.

Looks similar to the Cemoto, reviewed on bike forums (US), and found to be a very good value.
