Finding my (electric) wheels

Hi all

So a friend of mine has used the open source java configurator on their tsdz2 and the gains have been fantastic.

However, they're disabled with a bad leg so arnt able to exert much force on the pedals, and find that even on the highest pedal assist (level 5, using a VLCD5 screen) it requires too much effort for them to make it a comfortable ride.

They currently run it in the hybrid mode, derestricted to 500w unlimited speed.

What setting can they tweak in the configurator to reduce the required force needed on the pedals before assist kicks in?

Many thanks for any help

The main assistance is torque sensing mode so multiplies the rider input effort, these drive types are not appropriate for those will severe respiratary issues or those disabled who don't have much leg or stamina strength.

I don't know if otherwise ther is much in the way of settings to make the effort required easier.

If he has a throttle version he can try using that , other wise he can change the assist %'s. The max % he can input in any mode is 500% , however it may reduce the motor life or cause issues with the Blue gear failing quite often.

In the config files there is a start up boost option one can use , he will need to read the OSF manual for the various options. As a last resort he could chnage the assist mode to cadence mode to see if that is of any use.

Other wise he will be better off with a cadence hub powered bike with a full operating throttle , though the throttle is illegal it is very doubtful he will be prosecuted if ever challenged.

As regards to the power they are all the same 250w,500w or 750w it is only the amps /current set in the settings that chnage the so called wattage.

Even with a hub, a 250w will put out over 500w with the right controller and battery combo.

Imv the tsdz2 is not the right power unit for him to use as it in the main relies on rider effort.
