No pedal assist - what to check first?

Hi All,

I have a Raleigh Velo XC, which I bought 2nd hand a couple of years ago. Its been working fine until the last few weeks, when sometimes seems a bit slow to kick in on pedal assist. Last week hubby jumped on and belted it, changing through all the gears and it seemed better. Today, there is no assist at all, even when he tried, and the bike even feels like its actually holding back, even in lower gears and bl@@dy hard work! Battery had only dropped 1 level out of 4, and even at maximum assistance level there was nothing kicking in.

I have looked for advice online, and it mentions checking the chain ring cadence sensor for dirt, dust, grease etc, and cleaning it, but I don't appear to have one. There is a wired connection to the rear wheel (bike is front drive hub) so it appears to have a TMM. Is this likely to be my issue? Are these serviceable - ie can I take off and clean any sensors etc? Is a replacement just a straight fit or do they have to be calibrated to the bike?

Is there anything else I should check first, before I resort to calling our local ebike shop for advice? We are off on holiday in 3 weeks and was hoping to take the bikes with us, so need it fixed asap. Thanks in advance for any replies

Torque sensor issues hmmm, not something I can help with.
One could try a raleigh dealer for help.
TS on hub bikes is a complication not needed.
The fault could be the sensor or it could be the controller box.
