Used to enjoy the very informative posts by Jeremy, is the post below the reason why I have not seen recent posts?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jeremy, as a moderator I hope you don't mind me reproducing the following T&Cs from your own site:

"We reserve the right to delete your posts and/or ban you from this forum without prior warning."

"Repeated problems with a user will result in account termination"

"DON'T post abusive, inflammatory, or threatening messages"

"As a general policy, we discuss moderation-related topics only via private contact"

"DO think before you type; remember you are dealing with real people and you are not anonymous "

Similar to ours, don't you think?

You've told us how we should run this site (with caveats and AFAICS), claimed more posts are missing (they're not) and said that commercial pressures will influence content and direction (wrong again). As you've been told, several times now, the two concerned have had repeated warnings. Again we've said you're not party to all the facts and you're choosing to judge based on what you can, or have, seen. So while you don't know the specifics I don't appreciate you speculating in the way you have been.

While we appreciate everyone will moderate differently, may we suggest that you moderate yours your way and we do as we see fit here.

We have left this thread open today so that everyone can air views and you can debate the baseless 'what ifs' and 'maybes' you seem so fond of, however this matter is now closed and this thread will be locked. If anyone wants to discuss this with me further, you can reach me by email or PM.

Well he is not banned. But at a guess as he did not approve of the banning of certain people (Or to be more precise the apparent reason) he feels that he is no longer able to contribute here on a matter of principle. Personally I do admire his stance but as you say it is a shame.

I did notice that he vanished the day they locked that thread that was causing someone concern. I did check Jeremy profile page and did not have banned against it. I assumed he left in protest due to the locking of the thread

I did exactly the same jazper and came to the same conclusion.

It is certainly a shame, but I think he seemed to take umbrage at being told by Russ not to continue to speculate when not in possession of all the facts and the truth is he didnt have all the facts, none of us did, and he should have respected Russ' stance on it.....it is , after all, his forum and whilst I accept that a forum is only as good as its members, we do all have to abide by the rules.

There was, after all, no point in any of us continuing to speculate on and on when not in possession of all the facts. We all had plenty time to discuss it but eventually, I suppose, it had to stop.

I would imagine at the end of the day he is probably happier on ES.

Then again, Im sure he will probably come back eventually.

Lynda :)

Well I didn't contribute on many of his topics but he clearly knows more than a few useful things.

Jeremy if you are still watching this forum, some of us would like to see you posting again.

I have known Jeremy for years and I perhaps should have shared with the forum earlier that he has decided to follow his heart and he has moved to Texas where he is building monster trucks. In his latest email he told me that he and Geoff are really enjoying the sun and are really happy.

That's good to know, one's personal interests should always have a priority in how we live our lives, so I'm glad Jeremy is doing what he likes to do most. Sadly missed here though.

Such a departure is known in forum-land as a 'flounce'.

Doesn't bother me one way or the other.

If he wants to post, great, if he doesn't, I'll not be losing any sleep over it.

Rob, I'll not be loosing any sleep. Just happen to think that he added more intelligence to this forum than someone such as yourself and your dim witted comment. I wish him well.

SRS,

Better a dim wit, than no wit at all.

You know, I remember the moment Jeremy left the forum. We were out, on the high seas searching for basking sharks to harpoon and suddenly I felt a stabbing pain in my butt. Immediately I thought of the harpoon but on revolving I noticed my eyepad was flashing "pedelecs alert" on the Jeremy fails to post frequency! Innstantly of course I committed suicide.

This post was submitted without any intention of malice or disrespect whatsoever esp to Jeremy who is great guy.

The Flounce has a long and noble history on Usenet, forums being a pale and inferior successor. Seasoned Flouncers can take offence at the change in the wind, begger off and be back within a few days as if nothing happened, so desperate are they to get their fix of high drama or sheer repetitive wording.
Aye, it's a Man's Life in the Modern Internet, you mark my words, Jim lad.
