Yet again another cyclist is killed by what should be described as dangerous driving, and the driver walks free from court.
Many people, pedestrians are killed by dangerous and careless drivers and for the most part a prison sentence is the outcome.
But a driver kills a cyclist and its a rare turn of events if that driver is jailed, but of the couple of deaths caused by cyclists crashing into people, the cyclist goes to prison.
Im not saying the cyclist shouldn't go to prison if involved in a fatal collision, only there is a disparity in sentencing.

The judge said it was inexplicable, but that simply isn't true. It's clear what happened and it is very common.

The driver passed the cyclist and then slowed and turned left across the cyclist's path. It's a failure to realise that the cyclist was still gaining ground, catching up as the driver slowed for the turn.

Not intentionally dangerous but lethal in effect, failing to retain the cyclist's needs in mind after passing. And of course in breach of the new Highway Code, giving way to pedestrians and cyclists when turning into junctions.

Too lenient a sentence, in my humble opinion.
