Hello folks,

I have been lurking on the forum for a couple of weeks.

I currently do not have a car and cant afford to buy one for another 6 months.

I am looking to buy an ebike to go to the shops, gym etc.

Average back and forth journey will be 10 miles (but would like the bike to do 20 miles if possible). I am of average fitness, so can give some assistance but not too much. I have not been on a bike (even a normal one) for the last 20 years.

The area I live in is flat.

I have seen a (used) Freedom emaxi bike advertised near me but could not find it on google search (picture below) .

Have any of the members heard of it? If so can you give me your opinion of this bike?

Many thanks for your help.

Why would you buy an ebike to go to the gym? Cancel the gym subscription, buy a cheap second hand manual bike. Money and fitness problem solved!

Use the surplus money to buy a half decent bike for commuting.

I don't know much about this particular bike, but I'm guessing that's an SLA battery connected to a Currie Drive. Very old hat, not really worth anything compared to a modern bike.

Just a small warning. Bike thieves often target gyms because they know the rider will be in there or some time. They wait in the carpark with bolt-croppers. As soon as you're gone, they cut your lock and ride off on your bike. You need a lock that can't be cropped.

If you are of average fitness then a 5 mile journey on the flat to the gym on a conventional cycle will be no problem once you have your rear end conditioned

I assume you want to buy a cheap e-bike. Kudos is auctioning off its old test or old demo bikes,on e-bay. Within the next couple of days we will offer for auction the second of our Chinese cheapies, the first one fetched just over £200.
These are direct drive bikes, similar to that used by 100 million chinese to get to work....It carries me along quite well and I am 18 stone....these bikes sort of gather speed rather than accelerate, but once up to speed they maintain a fast pace.
The first bike was bright yellow, sort of Marmite colour, but the second one is black,I think looks smart....they come with a basket (for your gym kit) and a pannier seat, upright kick stand.
If interested keep your eye on e-bay....Rally Design shop.
Good luck.
