NiMH battery recommendations

I need a battery for my Tongxin-powered bike.

I am pretty sure it will be NiMH. I need 36V and with a decent capacity - at least 10Ah. Mindful of Jeremy's recent experience, I want something that is good quality and proven.

Doing a few searches, the ones that stand out are

1. e-bikes.ca - has a 36v 14Ah Nexcell battery for CDN$475 (c £250).
2. Batteryspace.com has 36v 13Ah for US$600 inc charger.

I'm leaning towards e-bikes.ca as they seem to be a quality supplier.

Anyone have any views on either, or another alternative?

No question that it should be ebikes.ca Frank.

Batteryspace/Poweriser have a somewhat chequered history with regard to both reliability of their cells and packs, and their customer service, and I will no longer recommend them at all.

I have bought stuff from ebikes.ca and from Batteryspace, and had no trouble with either of them.

They are different types of business though. ebikes.ca are electric bike specialists who clearly know their stuff; Batteryspace aren't bike specialists (AFAIK) but they are battery specialists. In this case its hard to say whether being a bike or a battery specialist is more appropriate.

But I do like the way ebikes.ca publish good data on their website. They measure battery performance and publish the results. So unless the price is wildly different, I would lean towards them.

The insistence of the battery specialists that their Li-ion batteries were perfect and delivered more than enough current to avoid cut-outs, and the way that misled the bike manufacturers gives me the answer on that question Nick. :)

Batteryspace had a series of cellpack failures publicised on the net around a year or so ago due to poor quality control. Recently they've started demanding copies of the front and back of credit cards on overseas orders, something the credit card providers would certainly condemn and which could put the account benefits in jeopardy if complied with.
