Hi there, bought myself the above to help me get back into cycling after a back op and also because I live on top of a slog of a hill which is great on the way down!

Got mixed feelings about the bike after it's maiden voyage (for me anyway it's not new!) been reading the forum and it would appear I'm not alone, maybe my expectations for hill climbing power were over estimated :(

One thought I had as I looked into bafang mid drive kit before buying the Giant is if it would be possible to loose the hub motor and controller and fit a mid drive using the giant batteries (I have 2) I like the geometry and other features of the giant but would the bafang mid drive be more satisfying?

Thanks

unless i am mistaken, the Giant'sbattery is 27V, it won't work well with a BBS01.

I think it's 26v... As I have 2 could I link them together on opposite poles to provide 1 52v battery? But then the bafang is 48v so would that fry it!?

I think it would be better to sell your bike and get one with a high torque motor. There's too many complications.

Fair point! I may just persist as it is for a while, see if I get used to it as it is. Ultimately I didn't want a throttle type ebike as the objective is to regain fitness and I know I'd just twist and glide up the hills if the option was there! Just was hoping to power uphill like it was a downhill, a lot to expect for any legal (ish) ebike?

You are not far from Oxygen.

A ride on their MTB will give you a good idea of the grunt available from one of the more powerful legal ebikes.
