Hi I am a Newbie to the forum, although I have been lurking, reading up on others' projects and coming to the decision to do a conversion.http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif I Just finished converting my Claude Butler MTB using an Alien 36V Kit.

The kit seems fine, but one problem I have is with my wireless bike computer, which refuses to work when the power is applied to the hub motor! The computer (7 function from Decathlon) works fine when moving without motor assist. I am presuming there is some interference from the high frequency AC in the controller. I see that others in the Forum don't seem to have any troubles. So I am now looking at using a wired Cateye Velo 8, and hope this will cure this strange problem.

I will let you know how things go, and may be take some pictures of the conversion, with a bit of a description in the near future.

A very late night welcome to you then, vhfman.

- I assume therefore that you have a front wheel hub and that you also fitted the wireless sender to the fork near the hub also. That being the case it's not uncommon for wireless cycle computers to behave erratically when in the presence of strong electrical fields, (there should be mention of that in the instructions that came with the c/computer). My new wireless c/computer functioned but insisted on showing 99.9 mph. I've just sent it back as faulty. Hope I'm not guilty of the same thing as your c/computer; (my hub motor is in the rear wheel, so I assume I'm 'safe' ).

You won't have any trouble with the Velo 8 vhfman, they're about as good as these get.

This explains a lot, I've had exactly the same problem with my Wisper. The computer seems to pick random speeds to show and often it is 99.9mph, this is with a rear motor.
Luckily the replacement I've ordered from SJS is wired so hopefully the problem will go away.
