Hi Paulos

Which cycle scheme is your employer using?

Here are a couple of suggestions for mountain bikes in that price range.

Kudos Arriba
A good bike all round and ideal for the trails too.

Kudos Eiger
At less than £900 this bike is amazing value for money. It's also our cheapest mid-motor e-bike as well. Having a mid motor means you can utilise the gears to maximise efficiency.

For commuting the hub motor will give a more relaxed and leisurely ride also will be good for light off road trails and old railway routes. If off road use it a bit more adventurous for harsher terrain/ rough down hill then go for a crank drive.

Thanks for your replies, my employer is using the Halfords ctw scheme but the list of retailers is endless so I’m not quite sure if it has to be purchased through them or not?

Liking the look of the Kudos Mistral & Oxygen S-Cross Mtb

Are these rated well? And do you think the price is likely to drop in the next few months?

We're not currently part of the Halfords C2W scheme so won't be able to help source the bike for you. But still happy to help advise. Both those bikes are well rated and you won't regret buying either of them. If you search the forum you will probably find plenty of recommendations for the Oxygen S-Cross. In regards to price, I doubt it will change at all any time soon.

I’m in almost an identical situation to yourself, same budget and also lumbered with the Halfords C2W scheme (which I gather is expensive for dealers to join)

However I did find e-Bikes direct carry Kudos bikes, so I’m likely to head here as the scheme savings can’t be ignored.

Woosh don’t use the Halfords scheme at all, which is a real shame. I think they only sell direct, maybe someone can correct me but I can’t find any stockists.

Was looking at the Kudos Alamo/Stealth model, but I’m leaning to their MTB designs as I have a slightly bumpy 7-Mile commute;

They have most of the Kudos range there and they also have the oxygen; https://www.e-bikesdirect.co.uk/brands/oxygen/oxygen-s-cross-mtb
