new to my E trike but what is it??

Hello i'm Gareth I recently bought an E trike second hand which i am very pleased with. However the previous owner didn't have any manuals or receipts, so i do not know who made it. From pictures on the web it is similar to a cosy trike, the battery pack is a horizontal 36v 10Ah and is LiPo. the question i have is about the battery pack. It appears to have some internal Led's behind a red rear lens but what are they for brake or tail lights?? I opened up the cover and the Led's are connected to a +ve connector on the battery tray but this isnt connected inside the control box. any ideas what im looking at. advice really welcome.

This will be a tail light and would have a switch on the handlebar. It would not have gone to the motor control box. Also a similarly powered front light would be fitted . If there is no switch nor any sign of one ,it may not have been enabled on your particular model of bike and simply act as a red reflector as required on bikes sold in the UK. One of the expert members on here wrote some time ago that some tail lights are not legal in the UK due to the lens not having the correct markings so this may have some bearing on yours not being connected. My guess is that was simply not a 'with lights' model when sold.
