Hello everyone, Im new to the forums and to the world of electric bikes. Not sure if anyone can relate to this story (and hopefully it won't be boring!)...

Over the Easter period me and the family went over to Center Parcs in Holland, where I was to first taste the magic of electric bikes. Im not sure what it was but I just loved it.

Anyway, enough of my story! Im just asking for a bit of expert advice really, which bike would you recommend as a first?

I was thinking perhaps a Giant Twist. Is this a good first bike, if not does anyone recommend anything different?

Thanks, Phresh!

The Twist 1 and 2 models are well made and reasonable performers, though a touch on the slow side. They have the advantage of a long range with their twin batteries though. If you wanted to cycle without power, I wouldn't recommend these since the motor is high drag, being engaged all the time to provide regeneration of power, but as long as you run on motor assist all the time, that is not a problem.

It's not really possible to recommend a bike from the wide range of types available without knowing something of your needs, i.e., what sort of use you'll put it to, distances you want to cover and how hilly your area is, plus any information specific to you, fitness, whether already a cyclist etc.

I agree with flecc,it would also be interesting to know which bike you tried in holland and an an idea of your planned budget which would also help in making suitable recommendations.
