Hi all,

I recently bought an ebike, it's an upland 26, the bike feels a bit cheap but it's an ok bike to use, i've added a few bits to it like lights etc, but all in all im happy with it:) , only gripe is the weight of the bike:eek:.

The bike is pretty fast, I was wondering does anyone know if I can remove the noise the cog makes when your not pedaling to make it silent?.

Cheers Ellis.:)

I assume you mean the freewheel ticking sound, in which case nothing can be done about that Ellis.

If it's some other noise, perhaps you can describe what it's like.

Yes, it is irritating Ellis.

My solution is not to actually stop pedalling but just spin with the bike when I want to take it easy. That way it stays silent and I'm getting aerobic exercise and not getting tired.

What e-bikes really need is roller and ramp freewheels instead of the present pawl and ratchet ones. Alternatively, the pawls could be made wider and of engineering quality nylon which would be very quiet.
