AFAIK the mercury supersedes the mk1 speedict ebike & has an integral throttle lead, saving a port.

But don't take that as gospel.... I'm the numptie wot hoped the "new" gng kit allowed for multi chainrings

It is very confusing if you have not used one before. I hadn't and ordered it without the throttle cables (i thought they were included), Danny responds very quickly and refunded me the delivery charges when i added the cable.
I asked for the new version...mercury i believe, but they have had a few issues. The last email i recieved said they were almost ready to ship. I read 'we hope so' as not ready yet.

Danny asked me to update the forum with this info

---
yes we have 4 models

Mars : actually is is a replacement for ebike, data logger, for those who don't care about throttle control or road legal (target price - Eur 75)

Mercury : ebike + built-in throttle control, so use any j-connector for throttle cable is ok (target price - Eur 95)

Venus : for bosh motor system, which can alternate or change the top speed or bosch system, support voltage up to 45V only (no price yet)

Jupiter : support RC controller and motor, voltage support up to 55V (no price yet)
--

I like this company. Their after sales service and communication is excellent.

PS Danny has offered to join the forum which I think would be great. I have of course explained that he would need to join as a supplier and have given him the heads up about not trying to overly push his product. Given Danny's posts on the ES forum offers advice, support and take requests for upgrades, I personally would love to see him posting on here :)

Regards

Jerry

Absolutely, there can be no better information source on very specialist items than the horse's mouth.

... so Mercury, at 95 euro can be odered right now ?

Any idea how much the total UK landed cost would be, shipping, import tax and vat ?
(and how long ?)

Following on from previous suggestions on here, is anyone thinking of arranging a "job lot" with pre-paid orders to save on individual shipping costs and maybe quicker by air ?

Or would such an expensive bulk order cause bigger problems with customs ?

(Be gentle with me, I keep discovering how naive I am with such matters) :)

You're very unlikely to get caught for duty because the Speedict is very small and nearly all the value is in the software rather than the hardware. If you ordered a box of them, you'd more than likely get caught, which would cost more than the £3 postage savings.

Now I'm really going to look slow on the uptake here...

"would cost more than the £3 postage savings" ?

I think I must have totally the wrong understanding about how to order from Speedict.

My information source was Speedict Technology Ltd. , is that not how you order them, do the come direct from China ?

edit - (probably too late) I've got it now. Yes, a box full would cost enough to attract customs, whereas one wouldn't. :)

HYou order them direct from the website for £63.39 plus £3.69 postage. If you're quick, that price applies to the new one, which should be 95 Euros IIUC.

I'd definitely go for that straight away, but that website makes no reference to the "Mercury" model that Jerry posted for Danny on this thread.

It just says "ebike computer capable to measure 80v and +/- 100A live data on Android smart device"

I'm worried that could mean the original model now designated as "mars" which I understand is just a data logger, without the built in throttle control ?

when I ordered about 3 weeks ago, I ordered the old model + throttle cables & Danny confirmed I would, in fact, get the new mercury...... I think

Whether that's still how to do it?... Probably best to email_Danny first.

It'll be good to get Danny on here - He's right on the ball with replies on E/S.
If he doesn't follow what you're asking he asks for clarification - Unlike gng, who just tell you what alternative kits they sell

There's nothing wrong with the old one. It has all the legal functions and throttle control. The main difference on the new one that you'd notice is that now all updating/downloading can be done via your Android phone. You don't need Windows drivers and software any more.

But in any case, Danny said on ES that all new orders will be the new version unless you request otherwise.

Just received the new Speedict Mercury in this morning's post. Looks good not had time to test it out yet but at least it arrived quite quickly despite the Christmas postal delays. Only six days after Danny’s email to let me know the Mercury had been dispatched.

I am not sure if there is a new app for the Mercury I will have to check and see if it there is.

I hope to have some fun with it after Christmas weather permitting.

Oh I wonder if mine is waiting at home. Something to play with over my two week Christmas break ;)

PS just got this email
---
Hi,

We will upload the Android client app for Mars, Mercury and Venus on Google Play next monday, therefore please be patient for few days, the current version on Google Play is for Speedict eBike not for Mars, Mercury and Venus :)

Cheers,

I got mine too this morning, this thing is so tiny! I was expecting something bigger, but I'm glad it's so tiny.. it's about the size of a large letter postage stamp!

I noticed Speedict have undervalued it on the Customs declaration..but it's still well over the £15 limit. Oddly I never got clobbered by Royal Mail for VAT and duty though..maybe time of the year, and they're just too busy! I know Royal Mail charge £8 I think for handling charge..and they won't give you the goods until you pay it!

How about you Chris, did you get away without any VAT?

I'm looking forward to trying out, but still waiting for my freewheel from China so until my wheel is built, no fun for me.. prolly won't get my first ride until after xmas now. I already got the Android app installed and had a look at it.. looks pretty neat.

Where's mine, then?

Own up - Who's got my chrissy pressy?

Typical Royal Mail - everything takes an extra couple of days to get down here by pack-horse.

Bet the bu&&€rs hang on to it 'til I cough up vat & "handling charge": Just my luck - Don't they know it's Christmas?.........

Wanders off..... stage left...... muttering.........

Thanks Jerry for the info re the new Mercury app upload due next Monday, I look forward to checking out the calibration and setting it up the unit ready for the New Year. I hope it works OK with my new phone.

And OK Paul I have not incurred any VAT or duty charges on any of my recent items from China, which is always good news. I did get an item via DHL which was held up at customs for a while, but have not received any charges so far, and I hope remains that way.

jackhandy I hope you get yours soon, there is still time before Christmas.

Felicitations, One & All...

Mine arrived this morning - Postie was soaked, package nice & dry - Wished him a merry Christmas.

Has anyone tried pairing the Mercury via Bluetooth yet?

My phone finds it as a Bluetooth device, but none of the usual pins work - Tried 0000; 1111; 1234;9999; 8888 .... Nothing doing....

Will it only pair once the new client is installed? I hope so, or I'm in for problems, knowing how fickle Bluetooth can be!

PS: Phone is a Galaxy Note (MK 1) so ideal as a data screen if it pairs OK.
