i'm currently on the lookout for a kit, and noticed these, which appear to be a bargain price. However, they are on 24" wheels, and seem to use non lithium battery's which are not guaranteed.

Unfortunately my bike wheels are 26".. And are non lith battery's any use?

SLA batteries have the advantage of being cheap, but some disadvantages. They are very heavy and they cannot give up all the charge content, so that 9 Ah won't give anything like the range of a 9 Ah NiMh or Lithium-ion battery.

In e-biking they are regarded as very old technology and have all but disappeared from manufacturers bikes.

Thankyou flecc.

i'm new to the idea of electric bikes, and to the forum, so what may appear as pretty basic issues like 'which battery's'? etc are far from obvious to those uninitiated like myself.

i'm 'reading round' the subject a fair bit, and hopefully i'll be in a position fairly soon to make an informed choice on which kit to start with.
