Does anybody know anything about the new SUNSTAR ibike motor kit, called SO2?

This motor kit is mounted at the bottom bracket. It is small and light (only 2,9 kg).

The previous SUNSTAR ibike motor kit (SO2) is reviewed in the current issue of the german bike magazine "Aktiv Radfahren".

I have found the information about the new kit at the homepage of greenspeed:

I want to built a pedelec according to the european legislation (250 W, with pedal sensor). Up to now, I want to buy the light and small tongxin hub engine (= nano hub engine ?). But now I am not sure if this new Sunstar kit is the better solution, because we have much hills in southern germany. The motor of the sunstar kit use the derailleur, I think such a solution is better to climb hills compared to a hub engine.

We've seen it before, but not much known about it yet X150.

One problem with this type of drive is that to have any motor assistance it's necessary to have the chainwheel turning all the time, so no chance of a rest to freewheel on throttle only.

The position on driving through the gears is nowhere near as clear cut as most seem to think, since our bikes are not motor vehicles but hybrids. If you use the following link you can see a comprehensive article on the subject, and you might be surprised at some of the disadvantages:
