I've just joined this excellent forum and am currently on Day 5 of my commute to work on a new Powacycle Windsor. I've read much written on these pages about batteries but have been unable to find the answer to my question. From what I've read, Lithium batteries decline with age, not use, however, I'm unclear on frequency of charging the things, particularly when I understand that my battery is good for 500 cycles.

The supplier has advised charging to be "little and often", so at the moment I'm hooking it up every evening and it takes 3 hours or so to fully charge. Should I be doing that and does each instance equate to a cycle? If it does, my battery's going to be u/s in about 2 years, and at £300 a pop...........

Regards
Rob

Yes, little and often...and 2 years is about right although the Panasonic ones seem to last longer than this. The battery is the biggest turn off for E-Bikes needing to be replaced every two years or so....

Yes, second opinion for you to confirm what NRG has said.

At around £3 a week, more for many e-bikes, battery costs make e-bikes far more expensive than unpowered ones. Since they are powered though, best compared to other forms of powered transport and then they can be very much cheaper.

I reckon my e-bike and car costs roughly the same to run, allowing for purchase price, maintenance, fuel & insurance and tax. I estimate that both will cost me 36 pence per mile over 10 years:eek: E-bike costs should go down with time;) :D , but the car costs will go up (fuel and insurance and tax:mad: ).
