Hi everyone,

Thought I would introduce myself. I've just taken ownership of a Dawes boost city and have to say I'm very impressed (although granted I've nothing to compare it to as its me first ebike). I purchased it through the cycle to work scheme which means I got it for a steal.

I have to say, I can't work out why more people don't have these things. My ebike has saved me hundreds of pounds in fuel bills already and I've only had it a few months.

I haven noticed a bit of stigma around owning an ebike though. I've even had the words "cheat!" shouted at me as I overtook a bloke on a pushbike on a hill on the way home from work one day. Anyone else get this type of experience?

I got the ebike as a realistic cheap alternative to my car as it didnt make sense to drive a bloody great big 3 series 3 miles to work! I still have my car as I use it for kids and dogs etc, but for those short trips around town my ebike is great.

Im relatively young and fit, so people asked me why I needed an ebike "aren't they for old/unfit people", but if I had purchased a normal pushbike, I know that after those 10 hr night shifts, the last thing that I would want to do it cycle up the massive hill on the way home from work, and as I live in Swansea there are plenty of those!!

Anyone else have a Dawes, and what do you think of them? I cant find many reviews on the net, and to be honest purchased the most expensive one I could afford (£800) which I know is cheap for an ebike but I thought I would test the water, and if I liked it buy a more expensive one in a year or two through the cycle to work scheme again.

Anyway, thanks for reading - let me know your thoughts!!

Hi Mato, welcome to the forum. Many and probably most of us have heard the "cheat" yelled out, also the "it's for old people" accusation. I suppose having a 2 or 3 litre car isn't cheating, and presumably they are not suitable for the old? Take no notice of this, it's just ignorance from those who know nothing about e-bikes or their purpose which is to make cycling more pleasant for everyone.

You've got a nice bike there, should give you good service and ideal for your purpose. Here's a thread in the forum mentioning it: Link

Dear Mato

I was overtaken by a lady on her E bike.
She slowed to have a chat, she was a district nurse and used the bike to make visits.
There was no basket on the front lol.
Was to exhausted to notice what type it was.
When we got the the crest I managed to leave her standing.
I was impressed with the concept and I am looking at converting one of my bikes to increase my bike usage.

regards
paul

Thanks for the reply both!

Looks like I'm not the only one getting abuse for having an ebike then! lol
