New development of the battery

We get these press releases about three or four times a year, and always mass production will start in three of four years time. I've been reading them for about four years, but no breakthrough technology is in mass production yet. There have, however been lots of small improvements, so there's no doubt that batteries are getting better, but don't hold your breath for step-changes.

just read the news from cnet

Shin-Etsu Chemical eyes 10X boost in smartphone battery life | Cutting Edge - CNET News

I really hope that would come at the end and run it on ebike. :)

The problem is that batteries "store" electricity in chemical form.
All feasible chemical reactions are known.
Slight advances can be made, but mainly in weight of batteries (ie lead versus lithium) but there is not likely to be any huge advance in existing battery technology.
For some vehicles such as boats where weight is an advantage, it is difficult to see anything better than lead acid. True, Torqueedo have introduced the lithium battery in their outboards, but at huge cost, and questionable advantage.

We are probably to young to see what the future of batteries and power generation is, we are in the age of the Model T Ford in E biking terms, so let us enjoy what we have now.
