New Build Possible glitches, i built myself a new bike last week (will put pic on) sadly i had a stairs fall and havnt been able to use it. today was the first time an i encountered a glitch.

when i peddle hard up hill or pull away the chain comes off happened 3 times. i suspect though could be wrong, that i was pushing hard to test the battery and rarely got out of PAS 5 and 9 gear. it seemed to be when i was putting the chain under pressure it came off.

the second thing is it seemed to use a lot of battery life. as i said i was pushing hard. its a 36v 17ah, but most of the time i was using 400 to 650 w. will this type of riding eat the battery. when i say pushing hard apart from a couple of stops i rarely dropped below 20mph and top speed was 27mph.

any help or do you think its inexperienced riding by me.

You need to set the two end-stop screws on each of your derailleurs. Look on the Youtube videos of how to do it.

Those motors are not the most efficient unless you keep them at high speed. 650w is quite a lot. I expect most people riding normal e-bikes are using something like 200w average. You have a 612Wh battery, so that's about 1 hour max - probably 45 minutes if you run it at full power most of the time. At an average speed of 20 mph, that's 15 to 20 miles. If we took the half-way value between 400 and 650, which is 525W, that would be 18 to 24 miles; however, that's at constant high speed. With a lot of starts and stops, those distances would be significantly less.

thanks, yes did a bit reading since and your right pushing it like that will just be over a hour.

i only have a derailleur on the back and that seems to be working fine. took the front of and changed it to a single. could be that maybe as i lift the outer on, might have to make it more central.

i should add its a 500w motor.
