I'm sure there won't be with Bosch, given the way the original works. Even Panasonic have eased up considerably on their previous setups.

That is a bit of a surprise..The 350 watt Bosch has been around a while now, but this is somthing different.

More for the commuter in a hurry and off roader than leisure cyclist I would think. The normal Bosch more then enjoyable enough for most..mine should be hear this time next week fingers crossed!

Yes, I can imagine that being popular with German longer distance e-bike commuters, 28 mph cutting journey times nicely. Plus the chance to pootle along at 11 mph without pedalling to have a rest, especially good for those with joint or other disability problems.

eddieo, how do you find the Bosch unit compared the the SB hub motor you used to have? Any quicker or easier?

Edit: Arrive next week, I thought you had had it for a while? Is it a repair?

I love the DaaHub and Specialized a beautiful bike, with kit and front motor the balance of the bike excellent...many bikes fall short in this respect. same dapush system as on your Alpino more or less, so similar I expect. deristricted it does 22mph'ish might be the 28 inch wheels. probably faster with you as I am 18 stone and unfit....

the Bosch system like any crank drive very different, certainly not as fast, but very quiet and Bionic in feel, you just push and away. much more natural and nicer when out and about.... I will use it for exercise as you have tpo peddle so a better work out.

the KTM Bosch bike I bought last year, the wife could not get on with the crossbar so got rid, ironically thet have made it a low step bike for this year but it was a lowish spec bike, so the new AVE MH7 nicer. its very comfortable. I tried it at regents park show recently, Dave and all the Kudos lads tried it at a show and it was their favourite bike. I wanted one last year but they were 3k now 2k. fits in camper easily so better security...

I remember now why I dismissed the Bosch units, they all have small batteries. That does look like a nice bike though, ideal for local journeys.

The range for me and my weight on FULL assist is about 25miles. but over on German forum there are threads about this, and many getting much better range. The batteries on German ebay now for approx £350 and there is a lot of chat about an 11Ah battery. Bosch are taking e bike very seriously and with 40 manafacturers with over 200 models of bikes available with this drive. All we need now is a similar system to complete against it and drive the price down.....

This ability to start without pedalling is good but far from new, I've been doing that for 2 years with my Crystalyte hub motor. And there are lots of other people do it too.
I have medical problems and it's great.

Frankly I amazed that a manufacturer would produce an e-bike that needs pedalling to start. I have to thread my way along a tricky passage, slightly uphill and if I did not have a throttle then I would not want the bike.

In mainland Europe throttles are not allowed.....a crank drive bike is very controllable, soon as you press peddle assistance is there...much more like cycling.

and unless BEBA are successful with challenging the law. throttles will be outlawed here soon anyway. This new Bosch asytem a real development and if it gets through EU regs, they can hardly then ban throttles here UNLESS its just for HS bikes

I would be using the bike in a very hilly terrain and would need a range of 50 miles or more.The rear hub ebikes don't have enough torque to climb the hills in the lakes so i would probably be wanting something like the bosch mid drive. How much torque does the panasonic and the bosch deliver?

I mostly use the b roads around here plus i use the coast to coast bike routes on the west side of the lakes and the occasional trail rides in Winlatter forest.
