Hello all i'm Clare. I live & work in Suffolk. Thinking of buying an E Mountian bike for about £3 to 5k, but would be more comfortable at around £3k. Worried about spending this amount of money & not getting the right bike! Haibike & cube hardtail's are on my shopping list at the moment. Advice on best model for money would be most welcomed. C x

Welcome to the forum Clare.

What will you be using the bike for, i.e. commuting, leisure, rough terrain rides etc..?

and what type of frame, crossbar or step-through?

Hi, Fordulike. I'm looking for a hardtail mountain bike just for gravel tracks & footpaths, but as i said i'm worried about spending £3+ grand & getting a dog!

I don't think you need to spend anywhere near £3k, to get something that's well built and reliable. Take a look at the range from Oxygen. They are a well established company, and appear to have a pretty good warranty.

A decent warranty and good after-sales is worth it's weight in gold ;)

If possible, please try and test ride any potential purchase.

I'm afraid that I'd never consider any Oxygen ebike as an eMTB.
eMTB style perhaps, but that is where I'd draw the line.

By the sounds of it though, pretty much any trekking/mtb style of bike would suit your needs, so the above comment wouldn't be an issue. I would certainly agree with Fordulike, that you don't need to spend anywhere near 3K to get the bike that you desire.

When it comes to 'proper' hardtail eMTB's, my money would either go on a KTM or Cube.

I can certainly vouch for the KTM range of bikes as being very tough and durable.

Taking a look through this thread will give you an idea of what people are riding and where. It might help you deciding.

Out of principle I also wouldn't touch any bike from Justebikes!

As an aside.... On the basis of your avatar, I predict 6 pages for the thread. ;)
