New batteries

Hi all , i've just bought 3 of these 12 volt 9 amp hour batteries , see here Denka Ltd Denka AGM Deep Cycle Range
The total cost including postage is £59.98 . Ordered today and have been told i'll recieve them tomorrow .
I'll report back once i've given them a good testing and let you know if they are any good ( i'm hoping so ) .
After getting a tip on here , i've decided to follow it and store 2 of the batteries in the case and fix the 3rd on to the rack i've just got from ebay see here Bike, Bicycle, Electric Bike MTB Alloy Rear Carrier on eBay, also Bags, Racks Panniers, Cycling Accessories, Cycling, Sporting Goods (end time 05-Feb-08 08:41:45 GMT)
I'll be routing the cable from the 3rd battery in thro the top of the battery carrier case .

Hi Wizard,

Good luck and please keep me up to date on the batteries.

Sounds like a good deal as I suspect our original batteries may not have been deep cycle.

Yep, much prefer it as doesn't slow the bike down with cut off's. Went down a longish slope on Sun and got 22mph.

I have an idea that battery life/range will be better as the pedelec function almost always seemed to be on. Time will tell :)

Batteries arrived thismorning , now that's what i call fast post .
Note had problems ordering via website , so tried phone ordering , but phone was always engaged , so emailed and asked them to phone me so i could place an order , got a call back in about 10 minutes , so try emailing when you want to order .

ps batteries arrived fully charged , and i've just installed the first 2 in to the battery case , i've used wood to pack out the extra space in the case , batteries weigh .6 of a kg less than the old ones .

Hi Phil have a read of this spec Tornado
Am i right in thinking that if you peddle whilest using the throttle that you actually get more power 250 watts while pedals are turning ( legal throughout the EU ) or am i reading it wrong .

Hi Wizard,

That's my bike and the understanding I have is that 250w is the legal continuous output, but this means that the motor may peak much higher under demanding situations.

It seems to me that the voltage = engine size and amps = fuel tank capacity. Hope that makes some sense as I am kinda getting lost and prob need an intro to electric vehicle science to clear my understanding.

Think my bike would be more efficient if it was lighter, but the rub is that if it was lighter I wouldn't like to leave it anywhere as it would be stolen like my last few push bikes.

ps hope the batteries work out and will defo go to the same supplier if they work out for you when my power pack gives up the ghost.
