I seem to be living in this forum at the moment! ..This isn't off topic but I didn't want to post in the Technical forum although I did have a look but soon got the hell out of there - there are places where some people should not go - man that place looks frightening ... will take the front wheel of my recumbent later and ... umm .. look at it for a while ..
Anyway, any advice about my winter boots? I need to put them away and want to make sure I do the right things ... They have been worn nearly a hundred times and are just a bit dusty so I was thinking to just wipe them with a damp cloth or dry brush them ... The SPD cleats are rusty and the allen key holes have somehow rounded themselves so I am going to have to leave them in?

It seems the allen bolts are quite soft material, so you could probably use a hacksaw to cut across the pair of them to provide screwdriver slots, aiding removal. To do this, much will depend on being able to hold each boot still enough, either clamped in a large vice or with someone else holding them very firmly.

If they are leather boots, rubbing in some dubbin will help keep them supple in storage. In any event, don't store them anywhere where it tends to get hot, since heat will make most boot materials brittle. Cool and fairly dry storage is best, avoiding damp which rots.

A short spell in the freezer may help to get rid of fungus....

... which may say more about my feet than yours...
