MW Motor Net, One To Avoid

Anyone thinking of buying from Ali Express, this is one supplier to avoid.

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/612941

A few months back I bought a 8Fun BBS-01 kit supplied by MW Motor Net via a third party just to try it out. The kit was fine and worked perfectly.

Then I decided to buy some more direct from the same source, but to start with I ordered just one kit to see how it went. Eventually the kit arrived quite poorly packaged and the display was damaged as shown below.

The damage clearly did not happen in transit. Despite the poor packaging it appears to have been removed from a bike with force suggesting it is used.

Needless to say I was disappointed and asked for a replacement display after several emails, they refuse accept responsibility and say that it was either damaged in transit or that I had damaged it myself which is not the case.

As a result, I will not be using this supplier again and would advise others to be wary of this company.
It would now appear from there website that they are no longer selling the BBS-01 kits.

Please note the BBS-01 kits we have in stock are not from this supplier, have a different display and are perfect.

It makes me mad when they do things like that. Can you get your money back from your credit card?

That is shocking!

Personally I would not believe it as she has been very responsive for my orders.

One shipment the screw and nuts were missing, she sent them back in Speedpost without charging me on top.

I think she needs to explain to us here..

Hi Dave,

I paid by PayPal, but as yet no joy.
All I wanted was replacement display which can't be more than a few $'s, but she doesn't want to know.

Hi Zebb,

There plenty of other suppliers out there.

I just disappointed that she does not accept responsibility and although the packaging was not great, that sort of damage did not happen in transit.

I will be interested to see if PayPal look after your interests. The one time that I have needed them to work on my behalf, I was not impressed.

I have given up hope of a satisfactory outcome in my favour and put it down to experience which I thought I should share.

How it works

To get PayPal Buyer Protection, all you need to do is pay with PayPal. It's as simple as that. So if you pay for something and it never arrives or doesn't match the seller's description - for example if you receive the wrong item or it gets damaged in the post - then we'll give you your money back, as long as the eligibility requirements are met.

Eligibility Requirements

Claims can only be made for physical goods that can be posted and are not prohibited

Buyers must raise a dispute within 45 days of a single PayPal payment for the full price of the item.

If no satisfactory response is received from the seller, a claim must be filed within 20 days of raising the dispute

Buyers cannot make multiple claims on the same payment

Please note that if the seller has accurately described an item, but you’re just not happy with it, that doesn’t qualify for Purchase Protection

Which bits are the cheating, tax avoiding good for nothings trying to wriggle out of?

the implication is that you pay a little less but you take a big risk buying directly from China.
So, what's the alternative if your self build project needs that special 48V battery pack or that BBS02 kit?

You have to be philosophical. Occasionally something might go wrong and you lose a bit, but in the long run you're still better off and end up with some nice stuff. You do your homework and take reasonable risks. It's all part of the fun.

Hi Trex,

Not many suppliers selling direct from China, or anywhere for that matter are unreliable, certainly not if they want to stay in business for long. It is safest to go for the ones who have good reputation and track record.

Wow, have just read this thread and its a reminder of how risky it can be buying from abroad.

I prefer to buy from a UK supplier if possible as its usually far easier to put right any problems.

I have bought from suppliers in China before (Fasttech for one ) without a problem but, personally, I always work on the basis of only spending an amount I could afford to lose.

Helps me sleep better at night ;)

I came across this when thinking of getting something from them. Decided not to bother.
Self-explanatory I guess

Aliexpress reviews | Customer reviews of Aliexpress | www.aliexpress.com
Aliexpress is just a webfront for hundreds of smaller businesses behind it - AE, while not perfect, are not responsible for shoddy goods and dishonest sellers (nor dishonest buyers, come to that) and you have to accept some crap along with the gold.
I've had no problems in many transactions via AE, and while the quality of some goods isn't as great as I would have wished for, I haven't been bilked out of money - so far. Even so, I wouldn't spend much per transaction until I was sure of the seller.
