How do I remove the break symbol? Manual says it’s the handbrake but I can’t see one, no assist while this is on. It’s No7 below 55662

There's probably a sensor in one (or both) of the brake levers that is for some reason detecting you have the handbrake on. Check the levers and you'll see wires coming out.

Look in detail at the lever. The sensor is a hall sensor and a magnet. When the lever is open (brake off) these should come close to each other. As soon as you pull the lever (even before the brakes engage) the sensor detects it and turns the motor off. If there is a disturbance of the sensor/magnet it may falsely decide the brake lever is being pulled.

1) Check that the magnet and sensor haven't been disturbed within the lever. (Not sure how hidden that may be).

2) If that looks OK, follow the wire back and see if there is a place you can disconnect it. If so, disconnect it. The motor may now run. If it does you can ride like that, but remember the brakes won't turn off the motor. Some people don't care, others rely on it. In any case, if the motor does now work you have identified the issue as the brake sensor.

The brake levers are normally on the handlebars.

When you pull on one of the brake levers a sensor normally detects this and cuts the motor.

Could be a faulty brake lever switch, cable or controller.

p.s. When we first got our XF07 kit I didn't realize about this. If you held the brake on as you powered up the motor you got an error '25'. As soon as you released the brake it was fine; the controller had decided the brake sensor was in good order, and pulling the break again did not make the error reappear. Until I realized it seemed so random whether or not it would power up.

Easiest thing is to disconnect both brake connectors that are on the electric cable from the brake. Reconnect one at a time to find which one is staying on. With your controller, you don't really need this brake cut-off function, and your bike will work without the brakes electrically connected, but if you do want this function, one brake switch is sufficient.

Hopefully, when you know which brake is causing the problem, it'll be easy to find the cause and fix it, but if you can't, it's no problem to leave the connector disconnected until you can find another solution.

We can't have a happy Christmas while we're worrying about you and your bike. Were you able to fix it, and, if so, how?
The right hand side brake was the problem, gave the top cable a tug and the symbol on the display was gone. Didn’t remove it completely as not sure how but I understand what causes it . Thanks again

One expects the brake lever wasn't seating back correctly hence the error code , adjustment via the lever grub screw adjusters will be best.
