Mirider 1 wheel circumference change

Featured Replies

l've found out how to change the wheel circumference on my Mirider 1.

l was messing with the controller and l held down the "boost" button while turning on the power.

The display then showed "OPTIONS 1"

Nothing else happened so l turned off the power.

l then discovered (and l don't know if the above had anything to do with it) that if you turned on the power, then IMMEDIATELY held down the up/down buttons, the display backlight came on and it showed as on the picture below

Using the buttons you can change the bottom number, which is the wheel circumference. Changing the "MXS" number made no difference.

Also you can set miles or km

Changing the wheel circumference to 14" (from 16") has increased the assist speed by just under 3mph, so the bike is now doing 18mph according to my GPS when the speedometer shows 16.5 where before it was doing around 15.5mph

Whether you think this is worthwhile is up to you. lt does make the bike better to ride on the road, l guess you could change the circumference to 12" or even 8" (it will select those on the display) but it would be pointless as you can't really pedal it much faster than 18mph

Also the speedometer would be totally inaccurate.

The wheels on the Mirider actually measure 15"

The controller will only select 14, 16 or 18" so it comes from the manufacturer set to 16"which makes the speedometer read about 8% high.

So if you set it to 14" it reads around 8% low instead and the bike will go a bit faster.

A 15" setting would be perfect, but there isn't one.

Many owners won't care, but the extra 2-3 mph does make it better for road riding.

On anything except slight hills it doesn't really matter as you can't get to 15mph anyway because the 250w motor isn't powerful enough.

I'd think that's really down to a lack of gears? My Fiido D11 20" wheel 250w with 7-speed gears manages 18mph assisted on the flat and is pretty fair climbing hills too (using the gears).

Did you consider the Onebot S6L? The "L" version is fundamentally the same bike based on the normal Onebot S6, but with bigger battery, 20" wheels instead of 16", and has a 6-speed gear-set too. It was still under £1000 the last time I saw one here in the UK.

No l never saw that one, but l need a second folding ebike so will take a look, thank you for the heads up.

UPDATE it doesn't seem to be available, why is nobody selling this version in the U.K.?

All Onebot bikes used to make regular appearances on at least Amazon, but not so much since Brexit.

Ebikesdirect used to sell the Onebot S9 which is again similar in concept (rebadged as a Falcon Flo here in the UK), but that too is now out of stock.
