Hi all,

Have to ask you all this question as i am curious about bike usage. After riding your electric bikes for approximately 1 year, how many miles are you getting from the battery?

Please give comparisons for beginning and current performance.

Sorry cannot answer that, no battery of mine has lasted a year yet. I'll let you know how I get on in May (2009). The Torq battery I bought in November is still performing as it did when I bought it so some improvement over the originals (and shows that the original Li-ion batteries were indeed faulty).

I've had my Cougar Mountain Electric Bike since June 2007 (11 months) but I couldn't give you any mileage figures as I was so unfit to start with. I could hardly cycle on the flat let alone up any hills. Having had a heart attack in 2004 I needed medical intervention to save me, all-in-all I went a little bit lethargic/lazy. The Electric Bike worked wonders for me - so does the glass of red wine every day :D
However, about a month ago I ditch my three SLA batteries (8 amp hour) for a LiFePO4 battery (36 volts, 10 amp hour). My hilly terrain was knocking hell out of the SLA batteries and all I could get was about 8 miles. The LiFePO4 has settled down and seems to be giving about 18 miles over the same terrain - much better.
With a recharge life quoted at 1000 plus, on the LiFePO4, I hope to have many years and miles use out of it.

I think Ive done around somewhere between 2000 - 4000 miles on mine now, and Im still getting the same performance (as far as I can tell) from the battery. Having said that, I have lost 2st 8lbs and am considerably fitter than I was so I dont think the battery is doing much most of the time anymore (especially as my average speed according to my speedo is often 15.2mph.

Having said that, I do recall a day not so long ago which was very wet an windy, and I was tired, and the journey speed much slower where the battery was flashing by the time I got home from work (11 miles).

I should probably get it recelled (dont fancy blowing myself up just yet by doing it myself)
