Mid-drive chain: larger chainring, same chain length?

Dear Pro's,

I am installing tsdz2 mid drive on Sram NX groupset, which currently has 36T chainring and 11-42 cassette (11 speed). Tsdz2 comes with 42T chainring.

Can I install Tsdz2 with its original 42T chainring, while maintaining the same original chain (kmc x11) for Sram without changing the chain length? I intend to use max 4-5 highest gears.

Would that negatively impact the drivetrain and its lifetime?

Many thanks in advance for your advise!

Do not recommend that can be an expensive mistake can destroy the rear derailleur:rolleyes: had to buy two kmc11 chains to get the length right IMG_20200503_173929519.jpgIMG_20200503_173913593.jpg

Well for a direct replacement I just count the links, but I changed mine from a 22 to an 11 and needed to use the method in the video which worked. If you make it too short and shift to a bigger cog it will be bad news. And I am far from being an expert.

with a single front chain ring i put a new chain on the smallest cog at the rear then split the chain so there is no sag.

power links should only be used once so make sure it is right b4 the chop.

Why only once? I have split mine many times without problems
it is what sram says to do with the quick links i also thought sod it until one day it did brake in half so always now keep a spare ;)
