A nice interactive site here dealing with risk (a micromort, I think, is defined as a a one-in-a-million probability of death) - you can compare bike riding with other forms of transport (seems it's safer per mile than walking)

Some miserably cold and wet mornings in England I think it's a bad idea even at 15 years short of that age!

I still get up though, since I can look forward to driving my car in warm, dry safety! :p
