This is getting complicated now, so I'd best start a new thread or my geriatric IQ won't be able to cope.

I recently posted another thread outlining my ambition to motorise my Burley recumbent, and got lot's of helpful ideas and suggestions.

I've ended up going with one of Dave's MXUS rear cassette motors, like Awol used in his very nice build.

The spec, (power.weight,RPM,9 speed cassette capability) was such an attractive option that I'm now thinking of using it in my full sus Giant Trance, my "best" mountain bike. I had previously tried the 1000w direct motor on it, but the weight and drag made it lose the option of pedaling unassisted. I think the geared, freewheeling, and much lighter MXUS will prove a better marriage, especially being able to retain the 9 speed cluster.

So, back to the reason for this new thread, the answers on here to my questions about 20" front motors still have me thinking about motorising my Hase recumbent trike, via it's 20" front wheel.

The vital point about motor RPM needing to be much higher than the normal 200 to 250 is well understood and noted. So, having had good service from BMS before, the cheapest and safest option seems to be their 328rpm version of a Q100, ready laced up into a 20" rim: Q100 36V350W Front E-Bike Motor Wheel - BMSBATTERY

Even with the dreaded shipping more than doubling the cost, it comes out at £160.

If I get hit with the full customs and VAT, that should be about £25 plus handling fee, so still just inside the £200 mark.

The only worry then would be if the order was mixed up, and I ended up with a 201rpm motor instead of the 328, as someone mentioned on here as having happened to them.

Hi eHomer,

It should be no problem if you have mentioned what rpm you need in the order.

I made a mistake before when I placed my order and I was able to amend the order via online chat.

Just double check with them after placing the order you should be fine

They'll get it right as long as you make it clear that the 328 rpm is important.

Ok, thanks Dave & Pat.

I tried online chat, and did get confirmation they were in stock.

I'm a born pessimist I'm afraid, Sod's law so often prevails in my case !

Fingers crossed now that it might not attract too much duty and the rather large "administration" charge to collect it.

Maybe the run up to Christmas is a lucky time for that, with so many parcels on the move...
