Max safe amps to charge 12v 20Ah SLA?

As title suggests, what's the maximum rate I can charge a 12v 20Ah SLA at, whilst maintaining charging safety?

They normally write it on the side of the battery,if that helps .

Hi the Maximum is 20% off the AH so a 20AH battery will be 4 amps if you go any higher you can boil off the liquid in the gel and you cant top it up

Thanks for both replies.
Unfortunately, even though it's branded, there's no info relating to max charging on the battery.
Think I'll go with the 4 amp charger as Frank mentioned. Seems like a nice balance between charging speed and not vaporizing the battery
