Well.....I did it !
Far easier than I expected.....a 6 mile long steep climb which the TONARO managed sin problemo....:p
I dont know why I was so worried...I guess its not as steep as some of you cycle up, but it was the biggest challenge I have had so far.....
Got quite a few amazed looks from tourists and locals alike.....guess not many cyclists go up there, but I tried to act nonchalantly and hoped they didnt spot the battery hahaha......at least I wasnt panting like an old dog when I got there....

The panoramic view from the castle was just outstanding.....clear blue skies, you could see for miles and miles ......north to the Estrella mountain range and east over to spain....AND I got sunburnt !

Did it with med and full assist in 4th gear mostly, non stop, though the last very steep bit up to the castle was in 2nd, but, although I had a 'glow' about me I wasnt out of breath, so YAY.....bring on the next hill.....I can see Everest beckoning :D (well.....maybe Cheddar Gorge ! )

I have to admit though, I chickened out of joining the 50mph club, I reached 37mph going back down and decided to hit the brakes......it was just too fast for me.....too much to live for......but I did cycle the whole way back with a big grin on my face :D

Gonna celebrate big time tonight.....fridge is well stocked with various beverages, non of which are good for you LOL

Thanks again to everyone who helped me find the gradients.

Lynda :)

Very well done.

I do likewise, but I don't mind people spotting the battery. Given the chance I let them feel the weight. Then I mention the range. It helps spread the message. Cost is of course the downside.

I always feel terribly guilty when I over-take unpowered's on the hills. But occasionally I have to hide a smug expression if its a Lycra and he's super fit and doing his best to keep ahead.

So do I!
I don't know why, after all, if I was on a petrol moped or even an old cyclemaster I don't think it would bother me, but for some reason, electric does.

I think it's the relative quietness, somehow makes it feel a bit sneaky!

Yes, thats exactly it Flecc....and when you think you are getting away with it lol ...you dont want people to then spot the battery and realise that you're not as fit as they first thought you were :D

Hi Lynda, will you post your route so we can enjoy your experience. John

Hi John,

Well.....I promise I did try......but if you could see the mess I made on Google earth trying to draw the route this morning....not mentioning the fact that I had no idea how to upload it....you would laugh....no, probably cry......
So I decided to go for a boozy lunch with a portugese friend...( which seemed like a good idea at the time) .....and after that I really definitely was/am up to it even less :D

So, if you have any pity at all, it might be best if you just put in the following co-ordinates and take a look
yourself......sorry.....:(

( feel free to upload :D )

From N 39 24.603' W 007 20.442'
To 39 23'40.80"N 7 22'40.83"W
