Magnets on pedal sensor

I have a 36V 250w rear hub motor ebike, which I upgraded to a 1000w motor.

The pedal sensor has 6 magnets, but on the new kit the LCD only has settings for 5, 8 or 12 magnets.

The only setting that works is 12.

However, there is a bit of lag before the motor kicks in which is greater than existed before.

Is the lag because of the discrepancy between the number of magnets and the LCD settings?

If I changed the sensor to one with 12 magnets, would this make a difference?

Thanks

With 6 magnets on your sensor and the controller set to read 12 magnets, then your controller has to sample double the amount of pulses before it kicks in which is why you are experiencing the lag.

What controller do you have?

That is your display, do you know what make/model of your controller?

Some controllers will accommodate all of the magnet variations, but it does mean that you have to move the sensor and disc to the opposite side of the bottom bracket and use a reverse setting in the controller.

Thanks for your help

I'm not sure what the controller is, will have to check it later. I'll reply anon

Yeah, forget that. I just checked and P13 can only be set to 5, 8 and 12 magnets.
