Found this supplier, they do seem to understand the codes thing (unlike BMS batts) I have asked them if the 12 is the most torquey they offer, to see a graph of the 12 @ 36v nom, & the price per unit if a group buy of 8 motors could be got together. Also if the 8 units can be a mixture.

What does anyone think on here of the idea & weather the Q128H is an equal or viable option? There used to be a graph for the 128H & a dimensional drawing.

It's a question of how much power you want. the MAC is a big heavy motor compared with the Q128H. At 36v and 20 amps, the Q128 gives enough power to get a heavy rider up steep hills without too much effort. The 201 rpm one will do 19 mph and be reasonably efficient while climbing. the 36v 201 rpm one at 48v will go 22% faster with a slight loss of climbing efficiency. The MAC comes in many speed variants, so you choose the one you want. You can go to 30 amps at 48v, so it can handle 50% more power, but then you need a bigger heavier battery.

Did the Q128H prove to be a good long lived motor? I know the original Q128 not so.
I wanted a spare cell from BMS, shipping horrendous, the 128H can be added at no extra shipping cost!!!
http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/spare-7070260-lipo4-cell-wanted.27989/ I did wonder if I could add an alternative Li Po4 cell to the pack of the same Ah - If I could source one economically in UK / Europe

I looked further into the motors & code thing, got a reply from the seller. They sent me all the common curve graphs - plus a code 16 or 16T. Mixed order of the different codes fine. The most I & friend would want is 2 motors. Wondered if any interest on here for a group buy. This was before the latest currency crash!!! it feels like the mid 70's (at least the music was OK then) Perhaps this is not the moment for a group buy!!!! When I first imported a motor £1 = $2 !!!

If steep slopes were your ride then the code 16 would be ideal I think in a 26'' rim particularly for the older / less fit rider. Agreed that the 128H is a compromise between the MAC & the small Q100 size. Thought of pulling a trailer at times. I once tried a small motor front & rear - pretty good, though different types meant different controllers / throttles. I had 25A max@ nom 36v. Approx 200rpm motors. Seems to make more economic sense to try & get this in one motor??? when recreating for a mate.

What do you know about the original Q128 being unreliable? I've never heard anything other than good things.

Only that I was steered away from it a few years ago either on here or ES - was said to be disappointing & not much more torque than the smaller Q100.
Thinking about it unreliable was probably the wrong word. Q128H was said to be an improvement. Have asked for 128H graph & drawing from BMS. Seem to remember max amps were 28 @ 36v nom. Maybe it was overused like this - hence the removal of torque specs? Now says 800w - so points to a 20 or 21 A max controller. I have a Q100 on a con61 controller upped to 15A from 12.5A - works well

The old q128 was gutless at 36v. I guess it had weak magnets and thin wire. That was 5 years ago. The Q128H and Q128C are quite powerful for their size, moreso at 48v.

I fancied a change, so, I'm presently fitting a Q128C to my bike. It should be finished tomorrow. I'-ve lost a bit of weight, so I rarely use the winch on my Xiongda now. I'd rather have the 9-speed gears.
