Hi Everyone,

I have a Freego Wren. When I am peddling the bike suddenly loses power and then suddenly gains it again after a few moments. The best way I can describe it is that it is like a car that is 'chugging'. The power doesn't go completely, but goes very low. It has just started doing it today. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might cause this to happen?

Many thanks for your help.
Kerry

Have a look at the bottom bracket and the PAS sensor , most likely a two part affair with a magnet disc and wired sensor head. Check the disc isn't broken or twisting around its axis , intermittent power is often a cause of the PAS . The disc should sit and turn evenly as the pedal cranks are turned with a small gap of approx. 1mm betwen magnets and sensor head.

Many thanks for your speedy response. Where on the bike would the PAS sensor be sited?

Thanks,
Kerry

The Bottom bracket, this is the bearing axle unit unit which the pedals/cranks arms bolt to. One will be best to up turn the bike to see the sensor , the magnet disc is attached/sited behind the front inner chainwheel.

Thank you. I shall do that tomorrow as it is too dark now to see well. Many thanks for your help.

I have managed to turn it upside down and get the torch on it. There is a split in it which I am assuming shouldn't be there. I noticed that as it turned it didn't turn evenly and was further away at some points and closer to at others. I will have to get someone to fix it. Is there anything I should know about getting the correct replacement?

Many thanks for your help.

Best regards,
Kerry

Count the magnets and get a replacement from ebay.
Look for PAS sensor magnet disc, you may have to buy the sensor as well but you don't have to use it . Keep it as a spare in case ever you need it.

This is a 12 pole magnet disc , this type simply grips the square taper axle using the little gripper prongs. If yours is 5 or 8 magnets then stick with one the same , don't be tempted to get 12 unless your one is also 12.
