Finding my (electric) wheels

Hi
I am currently trying to decide if i should buy an electric bike or buy a conversion kit to fit to an old bike.
I have looked on the internet and quite like both the sports models by Juicy & Kudos. Which will be at the top end of my budget.
I would use the bike primarily for a small 8 mile round trip commute with a couple of small hills and a throttle would be good for the return trip when i've had a bad day:D
What would be the best option?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Hi, I would try to test ride both bikes and see which you prefer. Both Juicy and Kudos are respected companies with decent back up

The best option....as always..... is to try as many as you possibly can before you buy.
What suits one person doesnt necessarily suit everyone.
Sitting position, comfort, style, spec etc all come into play you need to see what feels right for you.

There are lots of possibilities available and all would manage that sort of distance.

Whereabouts are you and are there any dealers in your area ?

Lynda :)

Mark, that's really a matter of personal style. The Juicy Sport is either liked or not. Eddieo for instance makes his feelings widely known (he doesn't like it).
Our Sport has been around for 3 years and has undergone several revisions and improvements, so is now very well tried and tested. An original came into the workshop today, working perfectly after thousands of miles. The owner wanted a throttle upgrade which was a pleasure as he certainly was enjoying his bike and had clearly looked after it. We tested the battery whilst he was there and it still measured 9.2 AH after all that time.
It's great to keep meeting our old customers and hear their experiences.

Try E-Motion in Swindon, an excellent, specialist shop with a great range.

Hi Mark (Spark),

You might also want to consider an eZee Sprint Primo, excellent value for £750.
The Sprint is a tried and tested bike, sturdy and reliable.

Bikes & Conversion Kits - Cyclezee Ltd

Cyclezee is based in Milton Keynes, less than an hour from Coventry and we have a demo Sprint and eZee MTB conversion available for test rides.

Regards,

Spark...you have several options to try a Kudos Sport bike, it depends on how much urgency to your purchase-
1. We can ship a Sport up to Atmosphere Bikes Coventry, assuming he doesn't have one in stock. No commitment to you but I must ask that you are serious about the enquiry-you must make the arrangement with Atmosphere. Would you prefer black or silver colour?
2. If you can travel a bit further there may be a dealer with a Sport in stock-try Leek Cycles in Staffordshire.
3. We are exhibiting at the National Motorhome show,Peterborough,April 26
4. The best option but some way ahead is our London try an e-bike show at Redbridge Cycling Centre, there you can try every Kudos e-bike together with at least 8 of our competitors bikes, the circuit has a 10% hill and challenging bends.May 27
Suggest you look on our website for further details.
The Sport is our top selling model, there are some reviews elsewhere on this forum, search'Kudos Sport'
Hope that helps

 The original question was wether to but a kit or a complete bike it wasn't an invite to sell one!

If you are up for a bit of DIY then go with a kit, the base bike will be better spec, it will be your choice and you'll have the flexibility to customise it to your needs, however, you'll need to be able to sort problems out for yourself...if not and you need dealer backup then go with a commercial bike.

If going commercial consider Alien their back up and service has proven to be excellent, they don't post on the forum but are very approachable...ask for Jim.

Hello Dave thanks for all your help I dont think it would be fair of me to ask you to ship a bike just for me Leek is not that far away & when i next get a free day I may pop up to have a look. There is no urgency as i am looking to buy for the summer months when my work hours are more regularly 9 to 5
I will also try to get along to your event at Redbridge

Thanks for the advice I am confident with the diy of fitting it is more what to buy!! are all the front forks the same for example. Will any wheel of the correct size fit and is it easy to fit all the handlebar stuff on a bike with grip shifts.

Not all forks are the same but the spacing should be, just need to check the spacing is correct and that the inside of the dropouts are clear of any protrusions IE the suspension leg doesn't foul the motor. The wheel should fit, standard MB 26" or 700c depending on the bike.
