HI TO ALL,
This is my first post. I am 58, 13stone, 5'6", unfit presently living in Brighton. I am a newbie looking to purchase a folder for leisure I have been checking out this site over the last two months to get a sense of the market and absorb the wealth of expertise.
I have a Limit of £750. I like the look of the Cyclamatic foldaway, but would like a 36v-10amp+, rear drive. which i believe offers more power and longer range than the Cyclamatic.
I welcome any suggestions, advice

Thx John

Further to my comments above, I have been checking the new Sirocco by Woosh Bikes, the spec looks quite impressive, and price looks very resonable. Is there anyone who has had first hand experience of this model or Woosh bikes I would be thankful for ur feedback.

The new Sirocco X | Electric Bikes from Woosh | Tel 01702 435566 | electric bike sales and hire

The electrics are the standard Chinese stuff that you find on most low/medium priced ebikes, so no problem there. You could take that kit off and mount it on any bike. If you don't know anything about bikes and/or the electrical systems, then you need to rely on a seller who offers good support. Woosh have been trading for a while now from the same premises so they must be doing something right, but I have no first hand experience. To me, that bike looks exceptionally good value.

What concerns me, there is very little feedback/popularity on the new SIROCCO X(woosh bikes) compared to the cyclamatic power plus which seems to have a inferior spec, but has a lot of feedback.
It is important that i get it right first time and cannot afford a LEMON.
Hoping to purchase my first e-bike by spring or maybe sooner as the weather is rapidly improving.

As d8veh said, the parts are fairly standard as found on all low and medium price e-bikes out of China, so much of what is said of the Cyclamatic will be true of the Woosh bike as well. Any differences might be in build quality which is a bit below par in the Cyclamatic, so that's unlikely to be worse in the Woosh bike and could well be better.

Even the best e-bikes can suffer problems, and at least Woosh is a dedicated e-bike outlet and not a multiple product retailer like those who handle the Cyclamatic.

Jazper....if you look elswhere on this forum you will find details of the new Kudos Secret bike...we upped the voltage to 36V and the battery to 8Ah....with a 220 watt motor this should give an honest 20-25 mile range...the bike will join our other 2 folders-Cheetah and Versatile, all have their pros n cons. The Secret is particularly light at 18kgs and comes with a transport bag,it has integral LED lights, rear rack, throttle, good quality accessories, available white, black or silver-I think it is attractive but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, price £725.00 inc vat
Brighton is an easy drive up to Whitstable.

Do you need a folder to carry it on a car or on a train/public transport? If it's the latter, you better get a folder you can easily roll such as a brompton. You can get it at around £400 second hand. Then get an electric kit and it would probably be much more convenient.

Since starting this thread I have changed my mind on the folder, as i want something a bit more robust rather than the convenience of getting it into the lift to transport up to my 7th floor flat, other arrangements have been made for storage.
I have decided on a MTB type bike and top of my LIKE list is the new Sirocco by Woosh Bikes, followed by the Kudos Sport, despite Fwd and slightly over budget both bikes have sex appeal and not so geriatric in looks and the spec looks good, still looking and open to suggestions

ps please excuse the layman's terminology

I bought an Elios from woosh today, they are a great company to deal with.

The sirocco was also in the shop and looked great too.

All their bikes are great spec for excellent value for money, and the customer service is outstanding.

Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy it.
