there a few quid more than on ebay but you will get real ones.

the pack says to recharge when its flat when the light flashes but i have not run the cells down yet so no idea if it will cut the power or not at 2.5v

it does cut the power when the cells are charged tho with the wall adaptor.
Imagine you are talking to child.. will 4 of these fit in the adapter you recommended and charge with my charger?

yes but you cant let the cells go below 2.5v or you will damage them.

charged there 4.2 or bit under and have just got my 18650 charger from china.

I don't really want any messing about measuring volts and stuff . I just want one I can plug in and use.. plus it works out at £30 which is a lot just for a battery.

ill charge the cells up i have and the run them to there flat 2.5v see if the pack cuts out or not or just shows a flashing light.

On that basis, why after having spent in the region of 5k on bikes are you dicking around trying to cobble together a light, when for about £60.00+ you can have something decent? Think about it, SW has spent near on that amount, and still won't have a light that compares to say the BT20.

Just buy something decent to begin with, and get on with riding.

As for the comments about the cheapo battery packs, perhaps I have been lucky, but I spend roughly 2,000 miles a year riding off road after daylight hours, and my 2 Ebay cheapo six cell packs are now on their third year of use. I don't do anything special with them, just use them, run them flat, stick them on charge, often forgetting them, and that is about it. No special treatment, no waterproof casing, just used and abused. In some ways, they have proved irritatingly reliable.

I have also bought one of the 1 Cree lights to use as a back to the Fenix, and first impressions haven't left me leaping around in awe of performance, but then I was never expecting much to begin with, so no big deal there. It will be fine as an emergency back up light for off road use or for main ride use on road, but as an off road light forget it. It is just the usual Cree spot beam that just casts shadow over objects, and does nothing in the way of enhancing all important edge vision.

Actually I did.. I spent £160 on 2 hope one vision lights and the £11 cree light is better than both hopes put together. Just the battery doesn't last long.

You need to run a supply from your bike battery (usually easily done) and then use a light that will accept the correct voltage, or use a buck converter to power whatever light you wish.
You make that sound so simple.... there are no exposed wires or sockets anywhere on my battery and I would hesitate to mess with them if there were. There is a usb out on the intuvia display but I doubt that's would power a decent light. So speaking for the electrically inept what you suggest just isn't on the table

I'm quite happy as things are though. :)

Phill, just a word of caution. You could risk loosing the warranty on the two bikes if you do opt for a non factory supplied hard wired system, so check that aspect of things carefully first.

It's simple enough to learn. If you have the will, you will find a way.

well for near 60 quid you get 4 of the best cells you can buy.3400ma
a charger you can charge near any battery in.
18000lm light
and a case with high output usb socket for the camera/phone.

Phil, It really is simple. I don't understand why people are recommending all these other options.

You buy the light that I recommended. It costs £16, comes with battery and charger. You fit it to your bike, charge it and live happily ever after. It really is that simple!

Ask Leigh if he's happy. If he is, there's no reason you shouldn't be.

As things stand I have a box full of lights and don't really want any more.
The new fly 12 should be adequate for the small amount of road riding I am likely to do after dark, and the 2 crees and 2 hopes more than cover the offroad. I bought the hopes because they use AA nimh and I can carry spares , but then i heard about the cree lights..
