Lithium upgrade questions

Hi I am upgrading my powabyke euro 24 speed batteries, currently it has 3 sla in a casing that sits between your legs, how do I upgrade to lythium? And does it go in original casing? Is my only option to buy from powabyke or is their a cheaper option?

Main reason is weight and also I have seen a big performance drop on sla in this cold weather.

You have to find a lithium battery that fits in the box. Other than that, you join the main two power leads to the present ones and the same with the charge leads. You need to think about the plug and socket for charging. Esiest would be to use the existing socket, so you cut the two connectors off the twp chargers and swap the old one ontp the new charger.

The Powabyke seems to be quite poweful, so I'm guessing that you'll need a battery that can provide a lot of current, which means Headway cells, Lipos or at least 15aH of Li-ion. If you choose lipos, you'll need to run the balance leads externally so that you can balance, or cut a panel in the case sp that you can get to them. Lipos would be easiest to fit because they come in so many different sizes, but you have to do a bit of wiring and soldering to join them up. Headways are also easy to fit in because the cells bolt together, which makes it easy to split them into smaller blocks. Here you can see one bolted into one block. The plastic bits clip together, but you don't have to use them like those at the bottom of the page in the second link.
