Shame our aviation engineers cannot come up with sealed containers with detection and extinguishing systems fitted.
Are they still allowing mobile phones and computer in the cabins?

The issue is that some lithium ion chemistries produce their own oxygen when they burn.

I've worked with cells that do this, and when they start to burn, there is not much to be done other than retire to a safe distance. This is a bit tricky in certain situations, ie on an aircraft.

You can carry limited amounts as permitted cargo. But its cargo aircraft boats and trains. And even trains have limits for the tunnel.
