Lightweights Pfft!

Featured Replies

My GTech and my Full suspension (no e) 29er mountain bike weigh about the same, but there are obviously much lighter bikes out there and much heavier ebikes.

Can't win them all, they were very naughty though riding on PFP's ramblers would have a right ol moan:eek:.

The great thing about ebikes is you learn new skills and gain knowledge in other areas, it becomes another pastime.

No need to hit the gym them bikes are only 10 or12 lbs and easy to lift, problem with ebikes are they are awkward esp if you have a heavy hub in a wheel that unbalances the lifting. If all the weight was spread evenly they would be easier to lift but there not.

Hit the gym and you'll be able to do that too

My youngest lad benches 260 kg. I only stretch that far when I yawn nowadays. :)

On this particular bike I have a front hub and rear rack battery. My rear rack bag's full of gear, and there's a metal flask of cold coca cola in the bottle holder. I'd say that the whole thing is probably around 25 kg roughly. I'd need to lift that above my head one handed, as I'd need the other hand to open the gate.

It's a new fence that has just had the planks put back on. But it won't be long before someone put's another bike gap in it. o_O

I have given up on any PFP's that have high styles or kissing gates the odd one is ok for lifting/man handling over but after a while they become a nuisance.
You can't beat them all of the time I suppose. :)

Lol, you do tend to forget how light non powered bikes are. Luckily, I've still got enough brawn to lift the bloody thing over obstacles.

I still can't seem to negotiate those half moon gates with the swingy bit in the middle though :(

Usually able to get through them by standing the bike on the back wheel, it can be a bit of a pain but usually with a bit of manoeuvring it's possible.

I think you're all under-estimating the weight of those bikes. they're all full-suspension with MTB tyres. I'd say that they're closer to 14 kg.

Yes, 14 to 15kg I'd guess.

You've a good eye for detail. :)

It's quite a big swing gate. I can just about get through with the bike on 2 wheels. Good news, as it allows me to access the cross country routes. :)

Just beyond the gate, and the older fence, you can see a newer fence that they've just erected to block off 'Pike's pool', which was a stagnant swamp for years. Now they've connected it to the river with 2 trenches to revive it.

Time to start some push-ups. start with 10 before breakfast, then repeat every day increasing by 1 until you get to 200. By Christmas, you'll be carrying your bike over with one hand.

Would you settle for roll-ups? :D

By then he'd be so fit he wouldn't need an e-bike and the dog would be out of breath chasing him. :D
