Hi, I have had a stroke and therefore my right hand is weak. I had a Powabyke X bike but I found it quite uncomfortable on tracks and the throttle was on the wrong side and, when moved, was inconvenient
I like the look of the Wisper 705 and Whispers reputation is good.
I have a budget of about 1000, any suggestions?
Wisper 705 with independent throttle is £1709. Other bikes with
fully-independent throttles are illegal, except for those sold before 2016. There are many that have throttles that regulate the speed/power while pedalling. You only need to rotate the pedals without effort for the throttle to work. Others have throttles that only work to 4 mph. Most have no throttle now.
Throttles are fairly easy to swap On most Chinese electric bikes, so if you can find a used pre-2016 one in good condition with a right-hand throttle, you should be able to replace it with a LH one. If you want to do that, show us which bike you want to buy because some are easier to swap than others.
Your Powabyke with throttle is still legal because it's pre-2016. It is possible to swap the throttle for a LH one, but it involves a bit more DIY than most because the electronics work backwards compared with every other ebike. For a normal throttle, you have to open it and switch the magnets around to reverse it so that it works with a Powabyke
