Hi - I'm a postman who bought a 'Lazybike' via ebay about 8 months ago purely for my journey to work and back ( 4 miles each way , 2 big hills on way there.. ) I couldn't believe just how inexpensive it was but have recently realised that although they still have a website up , there is no way of contacting them and consequently realise that i may well have bought bankrupt stock from a non functioning company ( ? )
I have a query regarding batteries for said bike : recently battery power is falling short to get me home and believe a new battery may be in order but being non technically minded I am at a loss to how i may now purchase a suitable replacement battery or how to fit something similar ..... ANY help will be MOST APPRECIATED ...Thanks

Not sure what model you've got but,if its the SLA powered type you can usually open the battery case and replace the internals yourself,,,just take a note of the battery specifications and where the battery terminals go and basically just swap the new ones in.

You can tell if its the lead acid ones as it will be quite heavy !!- about 8kgs or more if its the 36v version.

If you've got the Lithium powered model, again, provided you know your bike spec, you may be able to use a similar size pack from other bike makes- be aware that the power plug/connections may be different and you may also have to buy the correct charger also..

Probably better if you can take the bike to a shop that knows ebikes- they might be able to do the job for you or point you in the right direction.

Hope you get it sorted.

There's no LazyPostman model so which one do you have?
It is likely to be a one man operation and he could be on holiday, how long have you been trying for? Have you tried the phone numbers listed for other countries?

Hi Martyn I know very little about SLA batteries only that they are widely available, cheaper and easy to charge, but you must get the right voltage for your bike of course..if you have a SLA battery that might explain why it's not holding its charge only 8 months into purchase...these batteries have a shorter life from what I understand.

As for Lithium batteries, they are more expensive but will last longer, typically 2-3 years if looked after. You will probably need to buy a new charger to go with your new battery if you buy from a different supplier as charging with an incompatible charger can be dangerous.

Have a look on eBay or try one of the trusted battery suppliers on the Web recommended by forum members.. Try YXM (userid daoji666) on eBay, or "Ping Battery" two trusted Chinese sellers. Also lots of vendors on AliExpress.

Just make sure you order the right voltage and current rating for your bike...If you can't get the same style of vertical mounting battery.. you could get a rack mounting one or even a square shaped one to sit on your rack in a bag carrier. In which case you would just need to make a lead from your battery to the existing power connector on your bike.. not difficult or expensive, parts are readily available on eBay and people on the forum will be happy to advise you.
