i doubt it Erik. The issue is not at all clear and the Times may be wrong on this anyway. I understand that it's a ruling by the European Court of Justice that has said this, not an EU directive at present and there is no current law requiring any of these to be insured.

The EU's type approval legislation 168/2013 exempts all such vehicles from being motor vehicles and member states have no laws requiring these non-motor vehicles to be insured.

So far we only have newspaper scare stories, so probably best to await developments for more clarity.

Oh god this "may" the Times uses is just such a weasel word. They know better, the Tory party knows better, the CJEU knows more than anyone that they have to issue popular rulings and not ones which undermine precious public support for Union by forcing every lawnmower owner to insure, I don't believe in a million years they would increase the burden on consumers, not after the France and Netherlands referenda.

I just know that the Danish politicians are much to eager to implement all things from Brussels in the harshest fashion, further restricting the citizens activities by prohibitions and taxing.
