Just heard on news that Lance Armstrong has registered himself, and maybe making an appearance at 2009 tour de France..... His old team is banned so he would need a new one. View was, as the sport had been brought into disrepute because of drug use, he wants to establish himself once again as "the One":)

I've got mixed feelings about this news. He was a very great rider, but one of the old gang with question marks surrounding them. Cycling has been moving on and I'd prefer him to stay retired on his laurels and undoubted achievements.

Go Lance!

Lance is Awesome. Anyone who is capable of competing in this competition should be encouraged. It is easy to point fingers of suspicion, much harder to prove you innocence. Without hard evidence, such insinuations serve no useful purpose.

I haven't made any insinuation, just stated a preference for the fresh look of the Tour last year with the departure of many of the old faces, Ulrich, Armstrong et al. It helps the impression of cycling making an unhampered fresh start and for me made the Tour more interesting and entertaining.

I'd hate to go back to Armstrong winning every year, no matter how well deserving his effort. The change last year was welcome.

I don't think Lance could do any harm to the image of cycling though agree with Tony that such dominance gets a tad boring. At 37 he will do well to complete the course.

You only need to look to the current tour of Britain and the fact that Rock Racing have been allowed to compete to see that contraversy will never be far away

And now Floyd Landis is also coming back into the Tour de France, following his being stripped of the win in 2006 after a positive dope test, something he vigorously denied being guilty of.
