I know this may seems a bit odd, but I don't understand my back light. It's on a 2005 Lafrree twist comfort, & it's the original light, as far as I know. It has 2 AA cells inside and a little black button in the middle of the reflector that switches the LEDs on when you press it. Press it a second time & the light flashes and then goes off. Press it a third time and nothing happens; press it once more & the light comes on (& the sequence starts all over again)

So what's happening in the mode where the light flashes & then goes off? Is it light-sensing like the front light?

Thanks for your patience in reading this far.

I don't know the light on that model Mike, or whether that's the original, though I doubt that as it has a hubdyno.

That second switch press on most of these LED lights gives continuous flashing, so I think what's probably happened is that the flasher circuit has failed.

In summary the sequence is normally Continuous, Flashing, Off.

If you don't get a definitive answer for that model's rear light, an email to David Henshaw, editor of A to B magazine will, since they have one of the same bikes:

Hi, With ref to rear flashing LED. As with most flashing LED bike lights, they use a dedicated micro chip embeded on the printed circuit card. Much the same as the ones sold in many stores. Basically it's faulty and unrepairable. May be you can improvise using an alternative type... they are quite cheap and also use 2 AAA batteries. If you can't get the original.
