Hi, I need a controller unit D991 000504 for my lafree. Any ideas would be welcome.

There may be cheaper alternatives, but pictures of the old controller and connections would be a help

There may be some much cheaper alternatives. Perhaps if you could take a photo of it showing the wires and connections, you might get some suggestions.

The one linked to by Old_Dave is Panasonic/Lafree specific with the correct plug and play connections, and includes the circuitry for that unit's amorphous alloy magnetic flux PAS. I doubt any other after market controller will have that facility, other controllers tried in the past for it have been for throttle control only.

Is there not a three phase connection for the motor, in which case any 24v controller should work? Maybe he can use the opportunity to gain a throttle.

Yes, any 24 volt controller will work with throttle control on it, A to B have done it, but it loses the essential torque sensing nature of the Panasonic unit with not very good results. In that circumstance gutting the unit and using a front hub motor kit has been found to be a better solution.
