i have been PM'd by several Pedelec members as to whether a full speed throttle is fitted to the new Kudos K16. We have decided to supply the bike with a twist throttle but not fitted,it is a simple matter to assemble the throttle to the bike.
The bike comes with instructions how to assemble the throttle to the bike and also explains that fitting such a throttle may require the bike to have type approval and/or registration as a light electric moped, the DfT law on this is also included and mention on the invoice,so customers will be aware of the implications of fitting the throttle.
It is possible that customers would wish to use the bike on private land or export it to a location where the throttle restriction doesn't apply.
The DfT have made the subject of full speed throttles so ambiguous, especially now it seems that you can fit a throttle to a bike that was originally a non assisted bike, that we have left to to customers to decide on their own interpretation of the law.
The K16 is such a nimble bike up to 15 mph,a full speed throttle just suits the character and urban usage of the bike. It is the best selling new release of any bike in the Kudos range and is already our top selling bike, best selling colours are the lime green and pink colours.
Hope that answers the question about full speed throttle on this bike.
There is no such dilemma with the Kudos Secret, that enjoys grandfather rights having been produced in 2015,prior to the new law,it has a full speed throttle fully fitted.

That advert/feature I n Wattbike on the K-16 was really good - I did wonder if you should put a similar range of photos (showing the model's folding, portability) on your website. On separate topic, any update on when Stealth/Alamo will be with you? Thanks

Thanks Goater,I agree, our Website is long overdue for an update,I am awaiting the next batch of Kudos bikes, including the Stealth and Alamo, due for deliverynext week to get studio shots to do a new gallery section on the web.
The Stealth and Alamo will be featured in the next issue of Wattbike and they are publishing a comparison between the usage of the Kudos K16 and the Kudos Secret, the former is 15 kg and single gear, the latter 18kg and 6 gear,I am looking forward to reading that article.
The next pair will be retro step through bikes,Milano and Verona,Italian styled. It must be obvious that Kudos is trying to offer something a bit different.

Gtech is looking after the younger riders so you are doing retro kitsch for the oldies... :p

I am still waiting on the 21st century e-bike that will blow my socks off. The Gazelle is close:

I don't agree that I am retro kitsch in my Kudos Stealth and Alamo, they are as contemporary as can be offered but using parts from the popular parts bin, keeping affordability. In fact I think those bikes are a direct competitor to the G-tech bike, the G-tech is lighter and carbon belt. The Stealth/Alamo has gears and 11Ah semi concealed battery.
Another kiwi....a range of bikes that you may like is the BESV.COM....I liked the JS1, but these bikes would have to sell at £3k in the UK,I don't see much of a market at that price, they are Taiwanese built.

You knew I was pulling your leg a wee bit Dave?

Yes the design of those bikes isn't bad but the devil is in the details: look at the rats nest of cables! You spend all that time integrating the battery into the frame and the screen into the headlight then you go and put all those cables there... What were they thinking. Hell, even a cable spiral to unite them instead of cable ties would make things a lot better!

And the motor!

Imagine that frame with a single shock front suspension and the Bafang Max drive integrated. Hidden brake cutoff switches to clean the handlebars up a bit. There you would have a killer bike people might be willing to pay £3000 for.

I like the overall design for a modern step-through. Geared hub or mid motor required though.

Thumbs up for:

Single key
Headlight console integration
Battery compartment

I agree Dave, the law is a bit of an ass!

We have taken a similar view, with a slightly different slant. Our bikes are fitted with a throttle that works up to 4mph. At a customers request we can make a simple change to the software enabling the throttle up to 15.5mph.

All the best, David

I am not too sure about burying cables within the frame. Looks good, but a nightmare if repairs are needed.
Bikes have had the Boden cables on view for yonks and we are used to that, so why worry about the electric cables.

As I think Mark Twain said,
'What you ain't got, don't need no fixin'

That is what the designers should be working on: getting the cables out of the way while easing maintenance. Cable spirals are much better looking than cable ties. On that particular bike it is the multiplication of cables, there are just too many and very badly tied together. Brakes and gears we are used to. A simple hidden brake cut off switch on the rear brake is all that is needed for safety.
