This one's for you Brian! It's Sunday morning and I have had chance to 'play'.
With the main battery switched on and the display active press and hold the "Down" key for approximately 10 seconds. The display will change to a flashing wheel symbol in the bottom left and will indicate either kmh or mph in the top right. Press the down arrow once to change the value and then the "Set" key to keep the change. The KMs that you have already accumulated will now be displayed as miles.
To change or amend the circumference figures, press and hold the "Set" key for approximately 10 seconds. The display will change to the wheel size in inches at the top and the circumference in centimetres at the bottom. Use the "Up" & "Down" arrow keys to change the values (the wheel size changes with the circumference) then press "Set" to keep the changes.
